From Announcement to Completion
The journey of the Burley Temple began nearly five years ago when it was first announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the April 2021 General Conference. Since then, the project has moved steadily through several key phases:
• Groundbreaking: Construction officially commenced on June 4, 2022.
• Public Open House: Thousands of neighbors and visitors toured the interior during a two-week public viewing that concluded in late November 2025.
• Architecture: The 45,300-square-foot, two-story structure sits on a sprawling 10.1-acre site, designed to be a peaceful landmark for the Burley community.

Idaho’s Deepening Roots
The Burley Temple becomes the 11th temple in Idaho (including those currently in operation, under construction, or announced). With more than 480,000 members and 1,275 congregations across the state, Idaho remains one of the most significant hubs for the Church.
The new temple joins a network of sacred buildings in cities ranging from Boise and Twin Falls to Coeur d’Alene and Rexburg. For Latter-day Saints, these temples are considered "Houses of the Lord," distinct from regular meetinghouses, where sacred ceremonies like marriages and baptisms are performed.
Fast Fact: The Burley Idaho Temple is located at 40 South 150 East and is expected to serve several stakes (dioceses) in the surrounding Magic Valley area.
