| YouTube Star with 3 Billion Views, Luke Nichols, Called to Young Men General Advisory Council |
Luke J. Nichols — the soft-spoken Alaskan outdoorsman whose YouTube channels have captivated a global audience with wilderness adventures, bushcraft projects, and heartfelt family moments — has just entered a new phase of service and influence. Nichols was recently called to serve on the Young Men General Advisory Council of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, marking a meaningful shift from online storytelling to spiritual mentorship and leadership.
From Outdoor YouTube Icon to Trusted Advisor
For over a decade, Nichols built a remarkable digital legacy. His flagship channel Outdoor Boys and earlier work on Catfish and Carp helped him accumulate more than 3 billion total views, earning him the respect of millions who tuned in to experience Alaska’s rugged beauty, survival skills, and wholesome family adventures.
Yet despite his massive online success, Nichols chose to step away from the digital limelight in May 2025, sharing a heartfelt “Goodbye” video where he explained the intense public attention had become overwhelming for his family and personal life.
A New Calling: Young Men General Advisory Council
In December 2025, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that Luke Nichols would be among fourteen men appointed to the Young Men General Advisory Council, a voluntary body that supports the Young Men General Presidency in mentoring and guiding young men ages 12–18 across the global Church.
Nichols and his fellow council members began serving on December 1, 2025, offering counsel, experience, and passion for programs that encourage faith, resilience, service, and leadership in today’s youth.
A Life Prepared for Service
Luke’s journey to this role reflects a blend of faith, professional development, and life experience:
Education & Career — Nichols earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a law degree from George Mason University. He practiced criminal defense law before turning to full-time content creation.
Faith & Missionary Work — He served a full-time mission in Fukuoka, Japan, and has long been an active member of the LDS community.
Family First — Throughout his YouTube career, his wife Rebecca and their three sons have been central to his narrative — and to his decision to prioritize family over fame.
This calling aligns Nichols’ passion for serving youth with the real-world skills he’s honed both online and off. His calm, grounded approach — once a hallmark of his wilderness storytelling — now has a new platform among young men around the world.
What This Means for Young Men Everywhere
Nichols’ appointment signals more than just a personal honor — it represents a bridge between generations and cultures:
Digital Influence Meets Spiritual Guidance – Nichols brings first-hand experience navigating social media and public attention with core values like faith, humility, and family.
Relatable Mentorship – Today’s youth often look outside traditional leadership for role models. Nichols’ presence on the council offers a relatable voice rooted in real-world adventures and spiritual commitment.
Global Perspective – With audiences thousands of miles from Utah and Alaska, his experience in diverse communities enhances the council’s reach.
A Continuation of Purpose
Though Luke Nichols closed the chapter on his YouTube journey, his new role is far from retirement — it’s a continuation of service, just focused in a different arena. His story shows that impact isn’t limited to screens or subscriber counts — it can be lived in mentorship, community building, and spiritual leadership.
Whether you first met him through his campfire videos or are hearing his name for the first time now, Nichols’ path is a reminder that influence grounded in character and purpose can evolve into something even greater.
