Church Announces 196th Annual General Conference Featuring Easter Solemn Assembly

SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the schedule for its 196th Annual General Conference, set to take place on April 4–5, 2026. This year’s proceedings carry a distinct significance, as the global event coincides with Easter weekend and will include a formal solemn assembly.

​Broadcast live from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, the conference will reach millions across the globe in more than 70 languages.

A Focus on the Resurrection and Renewal

​With the Sunday sessions falling on Easter, Church leaders are expected to deliver messages centered on the life, Atonement, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The proceedings aim to provide a global audience with a sense of hope and peace, emphasizing the strength found through Christian discipleship.

The Solemn Assembly

​A highlight of the Saturday morning session will be a solemn assembly, a sacred meeting reserved for significant Church milestones. During this session, members of the Church worldwide will have the opportunity to formally sustain a new Church President and First Presidency.

​While solemn assemblies occasionally feature the "Hosanna Shout"—as seen in April 2020—Church officials clarified that the April 4 assembly will not include this specific tradition.

Updated Session Schedule

In a shift from previous years, the Church will continue its focus on four primary daytime sessions. There will be no Saturday evening session. All sessions are two hours in length and open to all individuals and families.

Saturday, April 4

  • Morning Session: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. MDT
  • Afternoon Session: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. MDT

Sunday, April 5 (Easter Sunday)

  • Morning Session: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. MDT
  • Afternoon Session: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. MDT

Global Access and Attendance

As is customary, local Sunday services will not be held in meetinghouses during conference weekend to allow members to gather in their homes or small groups to view the broadcasts.
  • Digital Access: The conference will be streamed on the Church’s website, the Gospel Library app, and the General Conference YouTube channel.
  • On-Demand: Following the live event, messages will be transcribed and translated into 98 languages for study in Church magazines and digital archives.
  • In-Person Attendance: Tickets are required for those attending at the Conference Center. Residents in the U.S. and Canada are encouraged to contact local ward or branch leaders for electronic ticket distribution.
  • Note to Attendees: Public parking at the Conference Center will be unavailable. However, a conference ticket acts as a valid UTA pass for those utilizing public transit within Salt Lake City.
