Estonian Ambassador Visits Church Leaders in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — On Friday, February 27, 2026, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted His Excellency Kristjan Prikk, the Estonian Ambassador to the United States, and his wife, Liis.

​The meeting, held in the Church Administration Building, served as a diplomatic bridge-building event. Ambassador Prikk was greeted by:

  • President Dallin H. Oaks
  • President Henry B. Eyring
  • President D. Todd Christofferson
  • Elder Quentin L. Cook (Quorum of the Twelve Apostles)

​This visit marked a reconnection for the Ambassador and Elder Cook, who first met in 2021.

Highlights of the Visit

​Beyond the meeting with Church leadership, the Ambassador’s itinerary in Utah included several key engagements:

  • Academic Engagement: Ambassador Prikk addressed students and faculty at Brigham Young University (BYU) as part of the Ambassadorial Lecture Series and met with BYU President C. Shane Reese.
  • Humanitarian Insight: The Ambassador and his wife toured Welfare Square, observing the Church's extensive operations in food sustainability and community well-being.

The Church in Estonia

​The relationship between the faith and the Republic of Estonia has spanned over three decades, with official government recognition established in 1990. Recent high-level engagement includes a ministry tour by Elder Dale G. Renlund in May 2024.
