SALT LAKE CITY — In a powerful address delivered to millions of young people across the globe, President D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officially launched the 2026 Youth Theme: “Walk with Me.”
Speaking during a worldwide discussion for youth released on January 18, 2026, President Christofferson emphasized that following Jesus Christ is not a static state of belief, but an active, daily journey. The theme is drawn from the scripture Moses 6:34: "And thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me."
A Personal Invitation to a Global Generation
President Christofferson’s message comes at a pivotal time for the rising generation. In his remarks, he noted that the world often feels increasingly chaotic, but the remedy remains constant.
"To walk with the Savior is to move at His pace, to look for those He would serve, and to allow His Spirit to guide your every step," President Christofferson said. "He does not ask you to run faster than you have strength, but He does ask you to walk beside Him."
The broadcast, which featured a mix of music, testimony from youth leaders, and personal stories from young men and women around the world, highlighted several key ways the youth can "walk with Christ" in 2026:
• Abiding in the Covenants: President Christofferson spoke on the importance of the sacrament as a weekly "re-centering" of one’s walk with God.
• The Power of Daily Repentance: He framed repentance not as a punishment for failure, but as the mechanism that keeps us on the path.
• Service as Companionship: Quoting the New Testament, he reminded youth that because Christ "went about doing good," we are never closer to Him than when we are serving others.
The 2026 Theme: "Walk With Me"
The 2026 theme succeeds the 2025 focus, "Look Unto Christ." Church leaders explained that if 2025 was about shifting our gaze toward the Savior, 2026 is about the physical and spiritual action of following Him into the world.
Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and Young Men General President Timothy L. Farnes joined the discussion, providing practical insights for local youth groups. President Freeman noted that "walking with Christ" happens in small moments—when comforting a friend or standing as a witness of truth in a difficult conversation.
A New Era of Leadership
This address marks one of President Christofferson’s first major global youth initiatives since being set apart as Second Counselor in the First Presidency in late 2025. His legal background and career-long reputation for precision and deep scriptural scholarship were evident in his careful breakdown of what it means to "abide" in Christ.
The Church has released a full suite of resources to support the theme, including:
• A New Youth Album: Featuring the title track "Walk with Me" along with 12 other original songs.
• Interactive Study Guides: Integrated into the Come, Follow Me curriculum for the Old Testament.
• Local Discussion Templates: Designed to help youth lead their own "Worldwide Discussion" events in their wards and branches.
Looking Forward
As the 46-minute broadcast concluded, President Christofferson left the youth with a blessing, promising that those who make a conscious effort to walk with the Savior will find "the mountains shall flee before you" and "rivers shall turn from their course" (Moses 6:34).
"You are not walking toward a distant God," he concluded. "You are walking with a present Savior."
