Are Mormons Christians?

We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. (2Nephi25:26)

SIAYA COUNTY, KENYA – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has completed the construction and handover of new restroom facilities at Ramba Boys High School in Siaya County, Kenya, following a tragic accident earlier this year.

The initiative was launched after a septic tank collapse on March 22, 2025, resulted in the deaths of two students, Ryan Otieno and David Awinda. The accident led to the temporary closure of the school, which serves approximately 1,900 students.

Upon learning of the event, the Church's Area Humanitarian Manager, Denis Mukasa, reached out to offer support. The Church subsequently funded and contracted the construction of two new 20-stall latrine blocks, providing a total of 40 new facilities for the school.

A handover ceremony was held on October 13, 2025, with representatives from the Church—including Kisumu District President Peter Akal and Senior Humanitarian Missionaries Elder and Sister Marx—and school leaders, including Principal Dr. Patrick Odhier and Board Chair Mary Simgwe Odhiambo.

Dr. Odhier expressed profound gratitude, noting that the facilities address a long-standing concern for parents and students. President Akal emphasized that the funding for such humanitarian projects comes from the tithes and offerings of Church members worldwide.
