Renaming of Texas Temple,
The First Presidency announced that the previously named Houston Texas South Temple has been officially renamed the Fort Bend Texas Temple. The 46,000-square-foot structure will be built in Missouri City, Texas, on a 15.7-acre site.
"Jesus Christ is the reason we build temples," President Nelson previously stated. "Making covenants and receiving essential ordinances in the temple... will bless your life in ways no other kind of worship can."
Latter-day Saints consider temples to be "Houses of the Lord," distinct from regular meetinghouses. These sacred spaces are dedicated to providing a place of peace and for performing ordinances that unite families for eternity.
